The house that Grand Theft Auto built re-introduces the next generation in music production on Sony’s portable handheld system.
Rockstar Games has become a staple in pop culture, creating phenomenal video game soundtracks, with their critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series leading by example. Back in 2005, the developer would switch lanes into the realm of beat production, creating a music simulator for the PC, titled Beaterator—a flash application that allows gamers to produce beats using Rockstar’s collection of loops and sounds. Garnering a cult following amongst beat-making aficionados, the company saw their experimental project become an underground hit. With the momentum riding high, Rockstar has brought Hip-Hop maestro Timbaland into the mix, making the transition from the PC to the Sony PSP, and producing the most power music generator for the portable circuit.

The Battle Continues
Gamers get ready, the final installment of the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 series Dreamcast version is set to hit stores and the net very soon. With 3 on 3 tag, plus the NAOMI system, which amplifies the graphics and gives its super multidimensional detailing, MvC2 is about to do it again. Peep the graphics below:
The Dreamcast version of the game will be released for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation, and hits the world wide web on June 29th, 2009.

Indie Label Rhymesayers Is “Stoked”

Independent record label Rhymesayers is recognized for underground acts like Brother Ali, MF Doom and Atmosphere. We recently caught up with CEO and President Brent “Siddiq” Sayers to talk about the company which for years the company has contributed music to a number of video game soundtracks, including the brand new Xbox 360 snowboarding title Stoked.
The Source: Tell us a little bit about Rhymesayers’ accomplishments.
Brent “Siddiq” Sayers: I would like to think that we’re one of the stronger independent Hip-Hop labels out there right now, as far as across the board with what we’re doing, as well as actual record sales. We definitely have some of the larger independent groups amongst the Indies.

Grand Theft Preview
Rockstar Games invited some of Hip-Hop’s biggest tastemakers to preview the newest installment of the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned, in New York City and Atlanta.
In Atlanta, producers Mr. Collipark, No ID and DJ Drama were in attendance as well as R&B artist Slim and Big Boi from Outkast. Radio personalities like Mr. Cee, Miss Info and The Source’s own resident tech guru CJ Washington, made it out to the NYC event where DJ Enuff and Funkmaster Flex provided music for the event. Along with the free test drive, attendees received limited-edition Xbox 360 The Lost and Damnedconsoles. The Lost and Damned is in stores Tuesday.
