The house that Grand Theft Auto built re-introduces the next generation in music production on Sony’s portable handheld system.
Rockstar Games has become a staple in pop culture, creating phenomenal video game soundtracks, with their critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series leading by example. Back in 2005, the developer would switch lanes into the realm of beat production, creating a music simulator for the PC, titled Beaterator—a flash application that allows gamers to produce beats using Rockstar’s collection of loops and sounds. Garnering a cult following amongst beat-making aficionados, the company saw their experimental project become an underground hit. With the momentum riding high, Rockstar has brought Hip-Hop maestro Timbaland into the mix, making the transition from the PC to the Sony PSP, and producing the most power music generator for the portable circuit.

Jay-Z Reclaims The Top Of Forbes
For the second time in three years, Jay-Z took the crown as the top earner in Forbes annual Hip-Hop Cash Kings list. Jay-z raked in $35 Million while Diddy followed up with $30 Million. Kanye West cracked the top 3 with $25 Million and 50 Cent comes in at fourth with $20 Million. Hit the jump for the complete list.

Stealing Beats? Don’t ‘Do It’
A lawsuit has been filed against Timbaland and Nelly Furtado by Kernel Records, a music label based in Finland. The label claims that the chart-topping duo stole elements from a song previously recorded by Finnish artists in order to create the song “Do It”. The label alleges that production from “Do It” was taken from “Acidjazzed Evening,” a song originally recorded in 2000 by composer Janne Suni. According to Kernel Records, Timbaland “knowingly and willfully stole” the song.

Rihanna Returns to the Stage
While Chris Brown’s trial continues and the rumors and assumptions continue to circulate, Rihanna is making an attempt at moving on. May 28th will mark the arrival of Rihanna back on stage, making Dubai the initial location. Per her sources, Rihanna is excited about performing again, and anxious to start working. Over 25,000 tickets will be available for fans within the next couple of days. It has also been rumored that Rihanna is currently working on her new album in Santa Monica, CA and is speculated to be working with producers Timbaland, Stargate, and The Underdogs. With the rumors of Chris Brown’s new love interest, Rihanna is steering clear of any more distractions and working on releasing material. She and Lady GaGa have been reported to be working on a collab for the new album. Additionally, two new tracks titled “We Own the Night” and “Pretty Girl Blues” have been recorded and should be released to the public soon.
