Spike Lee Celebrates Michael Jackson’s Birthday In Brooklyn
The legendary Spike Lee invited the entire borough of Brooklyn down to Prospect Park (originally slated to take place in Fort Greene Park, but moved due to high demand) to celebrate the life and birthday of the one and only King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Fans of all ages came out to share there favorite Michael Jackson stories, moments, and music while DJ Spinna played Michael’s greatest hits the entire afternoon. Plenty of Jackson look-a-likes came out to pay homage to there fallen hero as well as some of his more famous fans in the borough of Kings. Ed Lover and Free of Power 105.1, 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, and the Reverend Al Sharpton were just a few of the people who showed up to celebrate in the park. Michael Jackson Theatrical Release Deal Close
Sources have confirmed to Billboard that a deal between the Michael Jackson Estate, AEG Live and Sony for a theatrical release of the Michael Jackson rehearsal footage from the ill-fated This Is It concerts could close today, though there are still some “unsettled terms” that are being negotiated. In fact, the deal is in such flux that it could shift to another studio by the end of the day. According to the source, Sony Music may co-invest with one of the film studios on this release, including Sony Pictures.

Anyone who has followed the history of American music can attest to the fact that without African Americans, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop and every other musical formed birthed in this nation would be drastically different. Only one naïve to the history of this country could deny the unmistakable influence of black folks to American culture. There is also a general unspoken consensus that historically, minorities are not properly compensated nor credited for their contributions to American society.

Michael Jackson Storms Back Onto Charts
The King of Pop posthumously reclaimed his crown at the top of the charts in record breaking fashion.
Michael Jackson set a record with this being the first time a cataloged title to sell more than a current release in a week, and he did it three times. Thriller, The Essential Michael Jackson, and Number Ones each sold over 100,000 copies putting them in the top three spots for this week. It should also be noted that sales week ended on June 28th and Michael had passed on June 25th, with the sales spiking in a three-day period. Number Ones sold the most this week with 108,000 copies followed by Essential with 102,000 and Thriller with 101,000.
