Shyne To Be Released From Prison Today
UPDATE:
“Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined,” A rep for Shyne told The Source today. His release is now under review, as representatives for the rapper revealed that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.
Jamal “Shyne” Barrow was expected to be released from prison today. The 30 year-old rapper was sentenced to 10 years in June of 2001 for charges due to a highly publicized 1999 shooting incident involving Diddy and Jennifer Lopez. During his almost decade-long sentence, the Brooklyn rapper was incarcerated at Riker’s Island, Woodbourne and Clinton Correctional Facility.

“Prisoner of Rap” no more: Shyne to be released October
October 6th, 2009 is a big day for Jamal “Shyne Po” Barrow. He will be released from Woodburne Correctional Facility. Convicted with five charges on March 16, 2000, including criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree assault, Shyne was given the ten-year sentence for shooting Natania Reuben in the face. Now that he is going to be released the question remains, will he return to the recording studio? If you follow other rappers who have been incarcerated, such as T.I. and Gucci Mane, then the answer is yes; but Shyne and his P.R. team have their work cut out for themselves.
