The Source Power 30 issue is here!

Power is the capacity to bring about change; it takes many forms, stems from various sources and is measured in many different ways. In Hip-Hop, we have watched the power leaders shift from major record executives to branding and creative communities best able to leverage their products, services and talents in today’s new global, digital planet. What better way to celebrate Black Music month this year than to relaunch our marquee issue for the first time in two years?

Welcome to the New Era of the Power 30. Honoring the top 30 power players in Hip-Hop culture, business, politics, entertainment and lifestyle, the Power 30 celebrates and profiles those individuals who are the leaders and brandmakers in their respective fields over the 2008-2009 calendar year.

These are the movers and shakers of the global Hip-Hop community. Question is, will only the top-ranking money makers who have embraced the mogul mindset make the list? Or will the hit-makers and lifestyle trendsetters who are breaking the mold dominate this year? Can you guess the top 30 people who made it to the list? Cop the issue to find out!

Power 30 Exclusive Video: T.I. & Grand Hustle

T.I. and his Grand Hustle squad nabbed the cover of The Source Power 30 issue. We spoke to T.I. just three days before he turned himself in to Forest City Correctional Facility authorities in Arkansas. In an exclusive interview, TIP said “I’ve prepared them in many ways. I have left instructions. I have created opportunities. I have given as much of myself to all of my artists and dedicated time and energies into their projects, just as I would have if I was there.”

We also spoke to the rest of the major players on the team about how they anticipate the hustle post TIP’s incarceration and them some. Watch the video from the photo shoot below:

Power 30 Exclusive Video: Will.I.Am

Will.I.Am is truly a multifaceted talent within the Hip-Hop sphere. As a super dancer come rapper turn mega producer and political dynamo, Will is an official 2009 Power 30 honoree. But of course, we won’t tell you which number I.Am falls on the list. That you’re going to have to find out for yourselves (when you cop the issue).
