Week of May 2nd, 2009: And the winning Step teams are….
The Youth Step Competition is getting off the chain!
For the competition held May 2nd at Boys and Girls High school in Brooklyn, Notorious (pictured left) hailing from Middle School 216 in the Bronx was victorious as first place winners in the middle school division. While 1st place in the high school division went to the Crown Mecca squad (pictured right) of Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn.

Legal Battle Over Tupac Biopic

Last month production company Morgan Creek filed a lawsuit against Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur Amaru claiming she backed out of a deal after promising to sell the company rights to the late rapper’s life story.
Now, Amaru has fired back with a $10 million cross-complaint claiming the company tried to force her into a deal and then sabotaged her attempts to negotiate the project with other companies.
According to Amaru’s suit, the dealings with Morgan Creek got shadey just after the Biggie biopic Notorious had a $20 million opening weekend.

Biggie Anniversary Dream B.I.G. Event
The Source remembered Biggie Smalls on the tweflth anniversary of his death with GoodGirlPR and Marcoart at the RHYTHM-sponsored Dream B.I.G. event where a tribute painting honoring the slain rapper was presented and auctioned.
Celebrity guests included DJ Cut, DJ Scratch and Amanda Diva.

We’ll Always Love Big Poppa

Twelve years ago today, Christopher Wallace, better known as Notorious B.I.G. was shot and killed in Los Angeles.
Biggie was undoubtedly one of the best rappers of all time with a charismatic personality and disctinctive flow.

Dream B.I.G Event

A Marcoart B.I.G. tribute painting signed by Notorious cast members and Faith Evans will be auctioned off at an undisclosed location Monday March 9.
The painting was first unveiled at a private screening of Notorious at Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Russell Simmons, Talib Kweli, Joe Budden and David Banner are all expected to attend.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

Run DMC Subjects Of Next Big Hip-Hop Biopic

Cheo Hodari Coker, who wrote Notorious, will take on the story of rap legends Run DMC next. Coker will adapt the authorized biography Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run DMC, written by the group’s former publicist, Bill Adler.
Producer Dallas Jackson told the Hollywood Reporter, “This will be a big movie about the 1980s hip-hop movement that took over the world.”
