Stealing Beats? Don’t ‘Do It’
A lawsuit has been filed against Timbaland and Nelly Furtado by Kernel Records, a music label based in Finland. The label claims that the chart-topping duo stole elements from a song previously recorded by Finnish artists in order to create the song “Do It”. The label alleges that production from “Do It” was taken from “Acidjazzed Evening,” a song originally recorded in 2000 by composer Janne Suni. According to Kernel Records, Timbaland “knowingly and willfully stole” the song.

Baby Faces Lawsuit Over “Birdman” Name
Finnish business man Jari Kuosma has filed a lawsuit against Cash Money Records, demanding over $200,000 in owed royalties in connection with Bryan “Birdman” Williams’ partnership with Lugz, Inc. Kuosma owns the trademark for the name “Birdman.”

Pretty Boy Floyd Gets Socked?
Boxing champ, Floyd Mayweather, Jr., is the target of a lawsuit by the bosses of Just For You Entertainment, a Long Island based company. Floyd, who is the owner of Philthy Rich Records, allegedly stole JYE’s artist, Freck Billionaire, after they claimed to have spent over $155,000 in developing the rapper’s career – studio time, living costs, and travel expenses included. The company is now seeking at least $600,000 in a civil suit against the star boxer.
Mr. Mayweather is set to be back in the ring on July 18 with Juan Manuel Marquez, coming out of a 17-month retirement.
