Lupus, Explained

With the recent announcement that Trick Daddy suffers from the same illness that took the life of producer James “J Dilla” Yancey, many Hip-Hop fans are starting to familiarize themselves with the disease known as Lupus. Still, many people are know little or nothing about the long-term affects the disease can cause.

Trick Daddy Reports He Has Lupus

Miami rap pioneer Trick Daddy has just revealed on the The Rickey Smiley Morning Show today that he suffers from Lupus. Promoting his new autobiography, Magic City: Trials of a Native Son, Trick has stated he was diagnosed with the incurable disease almost 12 years ago and continues to fight the disease, which causes the immune system to attack the body cells and skin and attacks the body’s major organs.
The disease has already taken the life of Hip-Hop producer James “J-Dilla” Yancey and continues to affect a large percentage of Hispanics and African Americans in the country. Trick Daddy is scheduled to release his autobiography later this year.

Now in the third year anniversary of his passing, a pair of composers from L.A. are paying homage to his legacy by taking Dilla’s modus operandi to the next level. A Suite For Ma Dukes is a four track orchestral EP of Dilla’s beats produced by Carlos Nino and Miguel Atwood Ferguson which will be preformed by a 36 piece orchestra as a part of Timeless: The Composer Arranger Series at the Luckman FineArts Complex at California State University on February 22nd.
