BET Hip-Hop Award Cyphers
Say what you want about the BET Hip-Hop Awards, but those cyphers are starting to become legendary, and the bar was raised again last night. DJ Premier cut it up with Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Buckshot, Crown Royyal, Joe Budden, Wale, Nipsey Hussle, Gsan & KRS-One. Hit the jump to check them all out. Brooklyn Go Hard
For the past 5 years, Brooklyn Bodega has presented its annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, bringing together some of the most respected names in hip hop. This NYC event is a rare opportunity to see these artist at one time on one stage for a small donation, or even free. Past MC’s to bless the mic have included Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Ghostaface Killa, Consequence and several others. This year’s line up was just as impressive, but unfortunately for many, the rain kept an unlucky bunch away, unlucky because despite the rain, it was an experience that went beyond the amazing performances.

Women In Hip-Hop: Bahamadia

Philadelphia native Bahamadia received her big break in 1993 with her independent single “Funk Vibe.” She soon caught the attention of rapper Guru of the Gang Starr foundation and received her first record deal on Chrysalis Records. Some of her most popular work came from her collaborative work with DJ Premier on her critically acclaimed album Kollage, which spawned the street hits “True Honey Buns” and “3 The Hard Way.”
