Source Q&A: Charlie Murphy

Charlie Murphy has always found roles in film and TV, but he didn’t become a household name until his reoccurring role on Chappelle’s Show. In one of the show’s most popular (definitely most quoted sketches, “I’m Rick James Bitch!”) he told “true Hollywood stories” about celebrity encounters as a member of his brother’s (Eddie Murphy) entourage. Since then, he’s done a voiceover work for everything from Grand Theft Auto games to The Boondocks and has enjoyed success on the standup comedy tip.

On March 19th, he returns to form with Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy, exclusively on Crackle.com. He’s bringing it back to sketches, infomercials and promises ‘you’ll be back to smacking chickenheads in no time’. The Source sat down with Murphy to talk about the show, people taking offense for no reason and how he stays relevant.
