Ekektra Records Relaunches

After 5 years off the radar, the once dormant label, Elektra Records is back in business. Warner Music Group has relaunched the label and their first release will be the soundtrack for HBO’s vampire series “True Blood” but they will also be releasing an album from Cee-Lo. John Janick, founder of Fueled by Ramen and Mike Caren of Atlantic Records, will head up the new operations.

Bow Wow wants off the leash

For years, Bow Wow has wanted his rhymes to evolve; a curse word here and a curse word there, but his record label, Columbia Records didn’t want to take the risk and lose Bow Wow’s dedicated fans, which consists of many teenage girls. And Bow hasn’t been happy about it. Now he is on a full out blitz with his “Columbia Records Please let Bow Wow Go!!!” campaign. He also lists Atlantic Records as a label he would prefer to sign with, stating “I’d go to Atlantic n be wit T.I., like he told me 2 do.”

Mp3 Killed The CD Star

Atlantic Records is the first major label to sale more than half of their products digitally. These new sales numbers reflect consumers’ growing preference for digital music.
Digital product sales include mp3s sold on iTunes and similar digital music outlets as well as ringtones.
Atlantic Records is home to rappers T.I., Plies and B.o.B.
