Art for Hip-Hop
Craig Henderson aka Jassartis is bringing his unique mix of arts in culture to the A. By “exploring the essence of African-American culture by blending elements of music, culture, family and business,” says the Brooklyn native, who now resides in Atlanta, Henderson has mastered a new approach to Cubism.
Take for instance two pieces from his Notorious Art Collection. He takes two strong subjects — Biggie and P. Diddy—and recreates iconic portraits of them by using a myriad of brilliant colors a la graffiti style, but in broader strokes. The finished pieces are as visually stunning and necessary to Hip-Hop as Andy Warhol was to New York’s ’80s clubkid scene.
Craig Henderson is currently exhibiting at the GA LTD Art Gallery in the historical Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia. Check out jassart.com for more information.

Bombing, anyone?
Forget vandalism, graffiti can now be considered arson. The newest graff trend involves lighting the wet paint on fire in a process known as fire tagging. If done right, you end up with a blazing tag. If done wrong, you nearly burn half your school down and cause $90,000 in damages like three Palmdale, CA Highland high school students.

The Invader
Street art has always been an essential part of Hip-Hop culture and it’s fascinating to see where artists from around the world are taking it.
The Invader is an artist from France who goes into cities and ‘invades’ them using ceramic tiles. He’s gained notoriety amongst street artists for some time now, with his classic video game themed pieces (think Bubble Bobble on the inside of a tunnel). Now, he’s taking it up another notch by designing QR codes that can only be deciphered using readers like BeeTagg (formerly I-Matrix) on the Iphone. Trust, this ain’t your average tag.
Find out more and check out more of his pieces in the clip below.
