Anyone who has followed the history of American music can attest to the fact that without African Americans, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop and every other musical formed birthed in this nation would be drastically different. Only one naïve to the history of this country could deny the unmistakable influence of black folks to American culture. There is also a general unspoken consensus that historically, minorities are not properly compensated nor credited for their contributions to American society.

Jay-Z Reclaims The Top Of Forbes
For the second time in three years, Jay-Z took the crown as the top earner in Forbes annual Hip-Hop Cash Kings list. Jay-z raked in $35 Million while Diddy followed up with $30 Million. Kanye West cracked the top 3 with $25 Million and 50 Cent comes in at fourth with $20 Million. Hit the jump for the complete list.

Jay-Z brings ROCNation to Sony
Superstar rapper/mogul Jay-Z has officially signed a new distribution deal with Sony for his new label Roc Nation.
According to Billboard, the rapper’s new solo album The Blueprint 3 will be distributed by Atlantic, although that deal is only for the third installment of the rapper’s Blueprint series of releases.
Jay-Z offered to have the Roc Nation imprint be distributed through his longtime home Def Jam over four years ago.

Nike and NBA Hall Of Fame face Lawsuits
Boston, MA, June 24, 2009 – SportsFuzion, Inc., a sportswear company and the exclusive licensee of the Basketball Hall of Fame’s sportswear has filed a lawsuit in Norfolk Superior Court in Massachusetts against NIKE, Inc. (NYSE: NKE) and the NBA Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame alleging breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, fraud, and other counts for general and punitive damages. The lawsuit comes after NIKE and the Hall of Fame conspired to eliminate SportsFuzion by manufacturing, marketing, and selling sportswear related to Michael Jordan’s upcoming Hall of Fame induction.
