Exclusive: Cee Lo On New Goodie Mob & Talking To Strangers

Posted: Jun 24, 2011 by MireyaFernandez

With this weeks premiere of Cee Lo Green’s new late night show, Talking To Strangers, on Fuse Television Network, The Source.com caught up with him on set to talk about the new show and put some rumors to rest.

Question: You are now the face of TV and you are about to embark on your latest TV show, could you share what the show is about?

Cee Lo: The new show Talking To Strangers on Fuse Network is very intimate and interactive fusion amongst artists. The show requires the artists to be themselves in an original scenario if you will, topics include music, their careers, life and more,  each guest will also perform.

Question: Could you tell TheSource.com about a day in the life of Cee Lo, you are currently hosting 2 TV shows and your recording a new album, how crazy hectic is your schedule?

Cee Lo: It’s a, its very demanding we do an impressive job of multitasking with the scheduling, but its still a labor of love. Its not with out fault, there are tedious moments, but its not impossible, its just not always easy you know? So, we do our best.

Question: Speaking of multitasking, the word is that you are working on a new Gnarls Barkley Album share with us the inspiration behind it and how the process is going.

Cee Lo: Let me clear this up now, that comment was made very casually I’m actually planning on completing a Goodie Mob album first. So I am working on both of them, in a very calm moderate kind of way. You know we absolutely have the creative drive to do Goodie Mob, and we already started Gnarls Barkley about a year go so I’d like to right that statement.

Question: This actually leads in to my next question do you miss rapping? Will there be a comeback?

Cee Lo: Yeah I actually I really do, it’s the most natural place to go, and it ballooned into something resourceful and renowned, Goodie Mob is here to stay and so is Hip Hop. And we as a community need help, and I’m apart of the community, so I believe doing another Goodie Mob Album is doing a civil service, if you will.

Question: Explain the transition of underground rapper to Pop Icon? Really what haven’t you done, they even remade your song on Glee, and you sang at the Grammy’s with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Cee Lo: I may not be underground anymore but I’m STILL an UNDERDOG, if that answers your question. But you know what it’s been an evolution, it’s been an adventure. I’m very fortunate. It’s a fantastic feeling. It’s kind of hard not to insult the integrity of such a thing by trying to answer in detail. As if to say, I’m aware or I speak on everything that has happened, like my actions have been involuntary, a lot of things have changed and the emotion that you feel are real its almost if you become a product of your environment. So much is circumstantial.

Question: Who do you look forward to working with in the future?

Cee Lo: I don’t have any aspirations that I’m sitting here twiddling my thumbs about, but you know what, just about anyone I have worked with. You know I can’t work with everyone so I’m looking for something or someone significant and special because not everything is.

For more with Cee Lo this summer watch Talking To Strangers every Wednesday at 11 p.m. on Fuse Television Network. Check the special performances and exclusive interviews with next weeks featured artist is Miss Keri Hilson.
