Overcooked Beef: Taking It There
So it looks like The Game was serious about this feud with Hov. The Compton bred rapper has put out D.O.H. tees – yes, “Death of Hova” – pushing to keep the so-called beef between him and Jigga in the media mix.
Last we heard, The Game wasn’t about beefing with legends. Some say Game is trying to create a beef that is actually non-existent. We understand that throwing a few stones can be good for press pickup, but where do we draw the line?
Let’s take a look at some hip-hop “beefs” that may have been taken a step too far.
“I’m wrong. A n*gga just gets confused”
About a year ago, we caught wind of a phone convo between 50 Cent and ex-G-Unit affiliate, Young Buck. The 16-minute exchange leaked and the world hears Buck as he begs and pleads with 50 to let him stay in the crew.

Call 50 ruthless - if nothing else, this definitely resulted in a shattered ego.
Hip-Hop Titans: Jigga Gets Personal
The feud between Jay-Z and Nas gained public notoriety back in ’01 with both exchanging lyrical jabs on mixtape records. But the first direct diss came with Jay’s re-written track of “Takeover” in which he spit, “you-know-who/did you-know-what/with you-know-who/But lets keep that between me and you (for now).” – a reference to Jay-Z sleeping with Carmen Bryan (Nas’ ex-girl & mother of his 1st child). It didn’t end there. After Nas responded with “Ether, Jay responded with a freestyle, which we know as “Supa Ugly” – a track full of allusions to sexual relations he has had with Carmen Bryan. Hit the jump to hear its 2001 debut on NYC’s Hot 97.
DJ Whoo Kid vs. Jay-Z (or Joe Camel)
Check these lyrics…
Stop your blood clot crying
The kid the dog everybody dying
No lyin, your n*ggas’ jeans too tight
Your colors too bright, your voice too light
~ Jay-Z “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)”
Now to the average Joe (no pun intended), “the kid” and “the dog” meant just that – a kid and a dog. Apparently, we needed to read between the lines because somehow it translated as a reference to DJ Whoo Kid and DJ Mandog, both of Shade 45. “Camelgate (Jockin’ Jay-Z)”
Seems like these days, a little well-cooked beef may be all it takes to set your career in motion – or at least get its motor running.
