An Open Letter To Joe Budden and Raekwon
What’s good fam?
I’m writing the both of you coming from a few different perspectives. As a fan, as a media source and as someone who knows what brilliant artists the both of you (as well as your associated crews) are. I wouldn’t overstep my bounds and say I know either of you on a personal level, but I have had the privilege of having short convos with the both of you about what should be the focus of attention around you two; your music. I’ve heard “Slaughterhouse” and “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2″ and I have to say that these records are without a doubt bringing back that real, lyrical Hip-Hop that I personally miss. The Source having chosen both of you for our Lyrical Takeover feature in this months issue should be a clear sign that you have something that the game is missing, and to keep it 100 with everyone involved, that’s where the focus needs to be right now.
The fact that this “beef” between the both of you is getting more publicity than either one of your upcoming albums is a problem. And as far as your fans are concerned, all these videos and subliminal or blatant attacks on one another are getting real old, real quick. It’s starting to come off as a publicity stunt, which most of us know it isn’t, but still, everyone involved in this is too grown and too talented to let a misunderstanding about who said what when bring a dark cloud over what should really be on niggas minds.
Now, the shit really hit the fan in San Bernardino. Apparently, things got physical. First, I have to say that a sucker punch is never valid, no matter who threw it or who got hit. Second, I completely get how tellin’ a street nigga to let something go can be a waste of time, but at this point, what are the alternatives? Defending yourself is one thing, but are we going to go back and forth with fists until the heat is brought out? Is a fuckin’ “Best Rapper” list, the root of all this bullshit, really that serious? I didn’t think so.
All I’m saying is everyone involved in this has better things to do, like get money. “Rock The Bells” is a wrap, and now the two of you can call a real truce and let the shit go, or hold in all the animosity and stay out of each other’s way. All that’s really needed to dead this is a mutual respect for one another, which I know is there, whether you two admit it or not. Hopefully, the next time I hear about you two it will be related to the monster albums you’re both about to put out. That’s what we need to concentrate on right now. People hardly buy albums now already, don’t give them more reason to turn a deaf ear to you.

As an older cat Rae should know how to be the bigger man and turn the other cheek. But sometimes knuckle heads make you feel as if you have no other recourse but to lay hands. Although I fault Rae, you gotta still put initial fault on Joe cause he’s always poppin off at the mouth.
Fact of the matter is Joe has had zero relevancy since Jump Off until Tahiry. And then now Tahiry is more popular than his ass. That’s how wack he is. Your mixtapes ain’t classics and you’re so wack your label shipped your LP in stores and misspelled your name.
Even if you were to say hypothetically you’re better in 09 than Method Man. No ones cares cause he’s already paid his dues. He don’t have to be the best right now. He already made classics. Method Man is the only rapper to rhyme with Pac and Big and steal the show. Big said in an interview how Meth had the better rhymes on The What. If Joe was so hot, name on person rap or R&B that has ever said, yo I gotta get Joe on my shit? Meth’s worst album is all of Joe’s sales put together. And he got cake from the acting.
Then you talk about the rest of the clan. You can’t find nobody that can spit a Joe verse. Name one classic verse from Joe?! My thing is niggas already did their thing and if you’re so much of the future, then you should be surpassing them or STFU!

Its funny how they pretty much validated everything Joe Budden said with one punch and whats funny is when they planned it they probably thought it was a good idea!!!! Another poorly executed publicity stunt..

PLEASE FIX THE LAYOUT ON THIS SITE! I have fond memories of the source and I’d like to read your post and see how far yall have come since Benzino fucked the whole mag up, but the black text on this gray background is MAD hard to read. Like it gives me a headache. Come on, yall are a respectable publication (or at least you are trying to be again, and I give you credit for that.) It wouldn’t be hard to step the internet game up a little. Just make the shit easy on the eyes!
