Fish In A Barrel: Unfair Fights In Hip-Hop

While listening to Lil’ Wayne’s new joint, “Million Dollar Baby,” Weezy spits some verbal darts at radio personality and TV show host, Wendy Williams. There are plenty of rap fans who wouldn’t mind Jay-Z entertaining The Game’s verbal taunts for a “Takeover 2.0,” they also would love to see Method Man and Joe Budden settle who is the better rapper. Hell, most rap fans probably would be entertained by the absurdity that would become of a Soulja Boy vs. New Boyz battle. However, most of the time we get stuck with things like Wayne versus Wendy, a case of a top rapper verbally disrespecting someone who can’t even rap to offer a semi-entertaining rebuttal. This got us thinking about some of our favorite unfair fights in Hip-Hop.

Jay-Z - “Blow The Whistle” (DeShawn Stevenson diss)
Originally intended as a song to motivate LeBron James during the 2008 NBA playoffs, Hova went at James’ nemesis on the court, DeShawn Stevenson of the Washington Wizards. Stevenson previously stated LeBron was “overrated,” prompting King James to respond “that would be like Jay-Z (responding) to Soulja Boy.”
Low Blow : Who the f**ks overrated?/ If anything they underpaid him
Hatin that’s only going make him spend the night/ out of spite
With the chick you’ve been dating”

The Game feat. Kanye West - “Wouldn’t Get Far” (Vida Guerra diss)
To be fair, Jayceon went in on all of the video girls of the moment when this song was released, Vida was just the only one who took offense to it. Once the Latina beauty caught wind of this, the claws really came out. The Game claimed that he had got it on with the model to which Vida shot back, in a freestyle no less, “Wednesday is male strip night so I don’t hear from Game… Don’t know why you’re texting me ’cause women ain’t your preference.” Ouch.
Low Blow :
“Like Vida Guerra, ass took her to the top
She’ll give you some brains you let her throw up the Roc
Let her put on your chain, she’ll throw you some —-
Picture that like Meagan Good and Jamie Foxx
Hype said it’s a wrap, she still on the set
Putting oil on her legs like she Gloria Velez”

Nas - “These Are Our Heroes” (disses O.J. Simpson, Tiger Woods, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kobe Bryant.)

Nas throws a few poisonous darts at OJ, Tiger, and Cuba in this Street’s Disciple track. But God’s Son serves the reigning NBA Finals MVP with the ether on the track that followed Kobe’s sexual assault case. Understandably, and thankfully (remember K.O.B.E. featuring Tyra Banks?), Bryant never responded to this lyrical beat down.
Low Blow:
From OJ to Kobe/ or let’s call him Tobe
First he played his life cool just like Michael
Now he rock ice too just like I do
Yo, you can’t do better than that?
The hotel clerk who adjusts the bathroom mat?
Now you lose sponsorships that you thought had your back
Yeah, you beat the rap jiggaboo, fake n*gga you
You turn around then you sh*t on Shaq

Asher Roth - “D.O.A. Freestyle” (Spencer Pratt diss)
The “reality show star” said he didn’t want to start rapping until he saw Asher becoming a big name, and that “somebody with real swagger needed to come into the game.” He also states that he and his wife Heidi Montag are the white Jay-Z and Beyonce. Right. Ok, maybe Spencer Pratt did deserve to get the lyrical hot plate.

Low Blow:
Ash is back/suck my Calder sack
That goes for all those who pose like Spence Pratt
Whacks that can’t rap, but think there the sh-t
When I’m hangin’ out in Vegas/ and making with your sis
Ahh, F*ck reality shows, it’s sad to see the tragedy, reality shows

Jay-Z, Nas, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Chamillionaire and more all dissing Bill O’ Reilly
It’s no secret that Bill O’ Reilly has had it out for Hip-Hop for a long time, for reason’s that are too long to be written out right now. There is also just a long a list of how many lyrics have been aimed at the Fox News personality, how about we take the shortest and sweetest shot at the conservative.

Low Blow:
Shout out to Bill O’Reilly/ I’ma throw you a curve
You mad cause I’m a thief and got a way with words
I’ma start my own beverage, it’ll calm your nerves
Pepsi’s the new generation? BLOW IT OUT YOUR A*S
- Ludacris “Blow It Out”

Eminem vs. Pop Culture

Perhaps the king of going after easy targets, Slim Shady never pulls punches on anyone. You name it, and most likely Em’s made fun of it. It’s now gotten to the point that celebrities take being made fun of by Eminem almost like a badge of honor, sort of like being spoofed on Saturday Night Live, this is a sign that you have made it. Well, unless your Nick Cannon or Mariah Carey.
