In Style With Vernon Davis

San Fransisco 49ers Tight End, Vernon Davis, is all business on the field. His smash mouth type of playing style and exceptionally gifted athleticism for a person at his position makes him a unique weapon and gives him superstar potential. When he is not on the field however, Davis is known as one of the more sharp-dressers in the NFL. The D.C. native was recently chosen to host the “Styling the Modern Man” event and chatted with The Source all about it.

Why do you think you were chosen to co-host the Styling the Modern Man event?

I like to think I’m a great example of a stylish modern man. I think
it’s important to look your best at all times no matter what, and I
try to make that known. I guess the people organizing the event saw
that in me and thought I could connect with the people who attended
the event.

Who is your favorite designer?
Louis Vuitton.

What’s your personal style?

I have a pretty open mind when it comes to style. I like to experiment
with colors and patterns. I was a studio art major in college, so I
see fashion as art too. I’m always looking for what’s new as far as
designers and trends.

What was your favorite fashion presentation at the event?

My favorite presentation was the loungewear and sleepwear. If you’re
entertaining “guests”, you can’t just walk around the house in
anything! They showed that adding slippers, nice boxer shorts, silk
pajamas, etc around the house is just as important as what you wear
when you go out or to work.

Near the entrance of the suites, they also had this Australian rug and
couch made of some material that was more comfortable than my bed. I
think it may have been some kind of leather. It felt so good that I
actually had to lay down on the rug for a second. I may have to look
up that brand and get that stuff in the crib!

Did you see any new gadgets that you have to cop? What are they?

I’m definitely going to have to upgrade to a Bang & Olufsen stereo

system. The sound quality on those things is outta sight.

Can you share any grooming tips with us for our make readers?
One of the most important things you can do is taking care of your skin.
Use a scrub to keep it soft. If you tend to get razor bumps, talk to
your barber or doctor about how to get rid of them or keep them from
coming in. Also keep your nails neat. Nobody (esp not women) wants to
see dirty or rough nails. You really have to be a total package. If
your hair, nails, skin aren’t in order, what you wear doesn’t
matter… it still looks bad.
