Since MC Lyte dropped her first album, Lyte as a Rock in 1988, she has always managed to stay relevant. Whether it be through features, appearances on television, and award shows, MC Lyte has never stopped repping the music as well as the ladies. 2009 though, marks her entrance into another endeavor within the music industry where once again, she can make her mark. As the new Executive Vice-President at Dubose Music Group, MC Lyte is a perfect fit considering her career background and passion for music.

Wasting no time, Lyte has already signed and begin working with new artist Tenille Johnson, a singer/songwriter from Atlanta. “At DMG, we will provide artists like Tenille a platform to showcase their talent and to grow into bona fide R&B superstars,” Lyte says. “I’m thrilled to be working with DuBose to bring soul music to music lovers young and old.” While working on the music careers of others, Lyte will also be occupied with the release of her own album, still under working title “The Second Coming” later this year. As one of the pioneers in the female rap game, Lyte will attempt to reciprocate that same success she received upon her protégé’s within her new field.
