Art for Hip-Hop
Craig Henderson aka Jassartis is bringing his unique mix of arts in culture to the A. By “exploring the essence of African-American culture by blending elements of music, culture, family and business,” says the Brooklyn native, who now resides in Atlanta, Henderson has mastered a new approach to Cubism.
Take for instance two pieces from his Notorious Art Collection. He takes two strong subjects — Biggie and P. Diddy—and recreates iconic portraits of them by using a myriad of brilliant colors a la graffiti style, but in broader strokes. The finished pieces are as visually stunning and necessary to Hip-Hop as Andy Warhol was to New York’s ’80s clubkid scene.
Craig Henderson is currently exhibiting at the GA LTD Art Gallery in the historical Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia. Check out jassart.com for more information.

The work shows how powerful hip hop culture can be. Hip -hop isn’t just about who got what. It tells us a story and imitates life. The art above is unique and I love it.

I had the opportunity to see some of your work just last month. I must say, you have an eye for color. Your art brought life to the wall of 255 Tapas. When is your next exhibit? I would love to come by your studio to see more of your work. My wife and I happen to Google you and saw that you had a write up in the Source. I told her that we may want to get you now before you get too famous for us little people. I see big things in your future.
Take care and keep up the great work. You will be hearing from me shortly.
Best Regards,
M.

I had a chance to see Craig’s work and it’s phenomenal. He’s very talented and under exposed. He needs more venues and more shows. I wish the world could be blessed to see the art that he has to share. Each of his pieces says something wonderful, even the pieces not related to his Notorious Collection. All of Craig’s artwork is moving and done with his God given talents. He powerful and special. I cant wait to see bigger and better things from him in the future.
Henderson’s Brooklyn is so hopeful and brilliant. His perspective is a refreshing contrast to the dark, hard knock life, images that are customarily associated with Hip-Hop generation Brooklyn. Henderson’s Brooklyn is the Brooklyn that I love and I am happy to see someone capture it as I see it in my mind.

Yo, my wife and I happened to pass by the studio and actually saw this dudes work in person… The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s actually a whole series of paintings about Biggie and Brooklyn, there’s this one with the Brooklyn Bridge… you just gotta see it. I mean the colors pop out at you like a kaleidoscope, no lie this dude has real talent. Looking forward to seeing some more of his work, I forgot to put my name on the email list at the art studio, so I was surprised to see this article in the Source… If you’re from Brooklyn, you’ll appreciate it; if you like Biggie, you’ll appreciate it; if you ever bought a mix tape, you’ll appreciate it; matter of fact, if you ever made a bootleg mix tape in junior high school — back when they had tape recorders — while listening to Funk Master Flex on Hot 97… then used your dual cassette player to dub a copy for your boy, then you’ll appreciate it… On the real, this dudes changing the game, look out for him.

this was my first time having the chance to the work of a very fine artist… I only hope and wish to be able
to view his work an actual proper gallery show…So as I have filled in the e-mail requied box maybe and
hopefully and I only wish that someone or even somehow I can be be informed of Artist Craig Henderson
aka Jassartis works and may it be in London or New York or Lisbon from July to March…I really would like

Craig’s work is amazing! I’ve seen his work on display in person, and these photos almost do no justice. I would recommend any & everyone in the Atlanta area to go view these pieces in person to take in the size magnitude and incredible mastering of colors! Blessings.
