Swine Flu Update

The Swine Flu has become a serious problem that has already affected an entire nation. Mexican officials said, nearly 2,000 people have been hospitalized with serious cases of pneumonia since early April. Since April 13th, 149 people have died from those same pneumonia-like symptoms. Mexico has closed all schools nationwide until May 6th, in fear of the virus becoming an epidemic. All museums, nightclubs, and movie theaters will also be closed.

Unfortunately, there’s been 40 known cases of the virus in the U.S. A prep school in the New York City borough of Queens, saw the most recent outbreak here in the states. Several kids from the school visited Mexico for spring break and returned swine flu carriers. No other clusters of the virus have been found in New York City.”The emerging cases of swine flu in the U.S. are being closely monitored but the situation is not a cause for alarm, said President Obama

Swine Flu Stats in the U.S.

California - 7 cases
Kansas - 2 cases
New York City - 28 cases
Ohio - 1 case
Texas - 2 cases
TOTAL COUNT - 40 cases

Now that everybody is aware of the flu my guess is that the spread in the U.S. will stop. It is extremely dangerous when you cannot take precautions. It’s a different story when you know about it…

The good news is that we were all worried about so-called bird flu which was a much more dangerous virus, but still a worrying time.
