Dwight Throws Dem ‘Bows

In an NBA Playoffs update, the 23-year-old manchild and NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard, powered the Orlando Magic to a 91-78 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Behind 24 points and a career playoff high of 24 rebounds, Howard used his usual array of short jump-hooks and freakishly powerful dunks to push the 76ers to the brink of elimination. The Magic can clinch the series Thursday in Philly, however, they will be without the services of rookie shooting guard Courtney Lee and possibly Howard himself because of his own massive elbows.

After soaring over the rim to block a shot from Philly’s Willie Green, Howard came down with an inadvertant elbow to his teammate Lee’s head. The elbow fractured Lee’s sinus and will miss the potential series clincher in Philadelphia. What might pose more troubling for the Magic is the league’s review of a techinical foul on Howard after throwing an elbow on Sixers’ center Samuel Dalembert.

Howard and Dalembert were tangled up after a made three-pointer by Rashard Lewis, and as Howard turned back to defense, caught the Sixers’ center in the jaw with a sharp elbow. The league will review the tape today and will have a decision on whether or not Howard will miss any games.
