We’re not just saluting the women who rock the mic, we’re also shouting out those who have impacted the culture in fashion, film and television. Toccara Jones was introduced to the world in 2004 during the 3rd season of Tyra Bank’s America’s Next Top Model where she represented for the thick girls as the shows first plus-sized model to garner serious media attention. Though, eliminated on the 7th episode she still came out on top as her bold personality skyrocketed both her modeling and television career.

Since the season wrapped, the Dayton, Ohio native has graced the covers of several magazines and modeled in numerous fashion spreads. In July of ‘08 she was honored as being the first Black plus-sized model to appear in Vogue with a 14 page spread in the all black issue of Vogue Italia.

Time has proven that the camera loves Toccara, and not just on photo shoots. In addition to her modeling career, Toccara has appeared on more than 10 television programs, served as a correspondent for BET’s The Black Carpet, and was featured in the video for Trina’s song “I got a Thang for You” ft. Keisha Cole.

Currently, Toccara is prepping for the 2009 “Vagina Monologue” tour as part of the special all-black cast.
