Virginia NAACP Challenges State

The NAACP’s Virgina chapter is back in court today to make the case that their state has not properly prepared for Tuesday’s election - particularly in predominately Black areas.
The organization is asking that more voter machines be provided, paper ballots are offered as an alternative if lines are too long and that poll hours are extended.
Virgina Republicans say those kind of last minute changes could give Democrats an unfair advantage.
Ben Jealous, president of the NAACP, maintains that there is a disparity in readiness between black and white precincts.

This is a perfect example of the mechanics of control being used in 2008. The fact that this is a problem shows how weak our democracy truly is.
