Roy Jones’ Loss - Did You See It Coming?

Roy Jones suffered an embarrassing loss Saturday night. What looked like it would shape up to be a great fight in the first round, quickly became a joke with Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe taunting Jones in between blows.

A lot of folks are blaming the loss on Jones age - he’s almost 40. But, the undefeated Calzaghe is just three years younger.

I’m disappointed about his loss. However, I do believe that Roy Jones will bounce back and return to his winning streak again soon.

almost 40 and still boxing, id be surprised if he can still speak in full sentences. This loss feels like the beginning of the end for him, time to throw in the towel old boy

I don’t think his age has anything to do with his loss. I’m sure he’s a healthy man who has trained intensely everyday untill this fight. He just had an off day.

I’m not too big of a boxing fan to comment on whether he should give up fighting but if it comes down to that, maybe he can clean his face up and try modeling, like this guy did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zcE1q4J7PQ

Yo, fb….u real militant my man…stop talking on the computer and start mobilizing. dude is ignorant…yousa fool. Roy u made me lose $20 son! What’s good? I’m not impressed by Calzaghe though he’s coming across the pond to fight boxers that aren’t in their prime. He needs to give the Executioner another shot because this time it will be different. He took Pavlick to school. Calzaghe and De la Hoya are gonna go down as the most over-rated…They stay on that pitty-pat shit hittin elbows and gloves just racking up points. Fight Margarito or Cotto….Pretty Boy Floyd even scared to step in the ring with those 2 MONSTERS. Latinos baby! WE FIGHT!

ay thats true shit, dat boy MARGARITO aint no joke, i honestly dont know why Floyd wont fight them. scared? maybe. I think Floyd can throw wit em’. This Calzaghe dude , i havent seen fight yet, i miss this Jones fight, but i also heard he beat Benard tho. I never say Pavlik fight either until Hopkins spanked him.
Best fight i ever saw though was when Floyd put a beatin on Gatti. I truly dont think i ever saw somebody get they ass whooped so bad, although cotto vs margarito was a good one too…

ay i give that to yaw BIG D latinos can “box” i dont about fight , being born and raised in L.A. I have put plenty to sleep. thats was back in the 80’s & 90’s tho, this day and age i dont wont no problems…

It’s not the fact that he’s old, he just need to “hang up the gloves” and call it a nite. He talked so much shit and now his embarassing career is over. Sorry Roy….

Roy Jones still is the better fighter. He dropped Calzage and hurt him, he still has power and speed.
Calzage won most of his fights against unknown fighters and would have been defeated by Roy at his best. I do not think that Calzage could win a heavy weight fight like Roy did. Calzage has know punching power he is a slap fighter. Roy does not have to prove himself again, he was the best fighter in his classes he fought in and has the best reflexs and boxing skills I have seen. As for the cut eye, Calzage’s glove just hit him on the right angle, t’s not from power.
Roy just relax and enjoy yoursel because you have already proved yourself.

Andy Lanutti 6th Degree Black Belt Hapkido. I could easily defeat calzage.
